October 31, 2017 will mark 500 years since Martin Luther nailed his 95 theses to the door of the Castle Church in Wittenberg. As we all know, that event triggered a tremendous spiritual earthquake in the medieval Europe and led to the major reforms in the Christian Church. It was an event that changed the world.
2017 Spiritual Conference in Toronto commemorates this great anniversary. The searchlight of the keynote speakers will explore not only the historical and religious setting that gave rise to the Protestant Reformation, but will rather highlight the guiding principles and spiritual forces that were foundational to that great religious movement.
500 year ago Martin Luther stood firmly in defense of the Holy Scriptures as an all-sufficient source of divine revelation and relied completely on Jesus Christ as an all-sufficient Saviour. Then and there he declared confidently that salvation cannot be bought by money or by any human effort because God saves the believing soul freely by His grace. There he denounced the corruptions of the great church and proclaimed liberty of conscience that is bound only by the Word of God…
The pen of inspiration says in the Introduction to the Great Controversy: “In the great final conflict, Satan will employ the same policy, manifest the same spirit, and work for the same end as in all preceding ages. That which has been, will be, except that the coming struggle will be marked with the terrible intensity such as the world has never witnessed… It is not so much the object of this book to present new truths concerning the struggles of former times, as to bring out facts and principles which have a bearing on coming events.” (Pages XI, XII).
What is the significance of the great Protestant principles for the Christian world 500 years later and where did lie and still lies the power of the Protestant Reformation – these are some of the questions that will be answered by the conference keynote speakers – Bro. Peter Lausevic, a knowledgeable student of both the Bible and history and the current General Conference Vice-President, and also by Bro. Marian Sirbu, a veteran pastor and Bible expositor presently living and working in British Columbia.
We invite you to join us for an exciting and enlightening journey into church history and discovery of the great Bible doctrines. Lessons from the past have never been more valuable than in our time!
