The winter youth retreat was held between February 17th – 20th, 2017, at Shalom by the Lake, Algonquin Highlands, Ontario. The main theme of the retreat was inspired by the words of the Apostle Paul in Hebrews 10:37: "For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry".
Brother David Zic was the special guest. By his statements, he demonstrated not only that Paul's words are highly modern but also the fact that the countdown to Christ's coming has already begun.
At the convention, there were young people from Toronto, Puslinch, Ottawa, Montreal and Virginia - USA, rejoicing during the programs.
The topics presented during the four days aimed to present a solemn and personal truth: "I am a child of God". We learned how to acquire a behaviour according to that of an ambassador of heaven. Every day we received rich divine blessings and a better understanding that we have a God in heaven who uncovers mysteries and reveals what shall happen in the final days.
Soon, though timing is uncertain, the trumpet of the Lord will sound and ambassadors from all over the earth will be called home. Blessed is the one who has understood his/her responsibility and has worked conscientiously. Blessed is the one who has loved the Holy Book and kept the things that are written within. In that day, the believers will say: "This is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us. This is the Lord; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation."
But until then, we must make good use of each day, for each moment has its own record, and every day we strengthen a habit. Thus, during the four days of fellowship we had the opportunity to know each other better, to enjoy eating, singing, working together and to acquire habits of mutual compassion. During a special program, the young people had the opportunity to learn how to respond in various cases of emergency – a life lesson that they will certainly not forget!
On Tuesday February 20th, the closing ceremony was held. We said goodbye to each other, with the hope of another soon-to-be meeting. But until then, I pray to God that Peter's words should sound in the minds of all the participants: "Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ".
We thank God for His protection and guidance and we also thank all the brethren who contributed to the proper running of the convention.
